THE STOREYS OF LANCASTER.
Mrs. Holmes Poulton, writing some time ago, said :-
"My mother, Martha Storey, told me that her father's father originally came from Troutbeck, and lived a long time at Low Ray, where his sons were chiefly brought up until they were young men. Sarah dark, our grandmother, was brought up at Lees Rigg, near Wigton, in Cumberland, where her father had a large farm many years. Mother paid a visit to her uncle and grandmother at the said farm after her own marriage to my father.
"When my mother visited her grandmother she was ninety-five years of age ; her hair was so long that she could sit upon it, and she had not then a hair that was gray. It was auburn. She died aged about ninety-six years and a half."
"Herewith I send you what information I have been able to obtain from the Misses White, of California; 'tis somewhat late and rather vague, but possibly, with what you already possess, you may arrive at something definite."
