BARONY OF BURGH COURT LEET.

Manor of Burgh and View of Frank Pledge, in the County of Cumberland of our loving Lord the King, together with the customary Baron and Court Dimissions of the Right Honourable Lord Viscount Lonsdale, Baron Lowther of Lowther, holden at Burgh aforesaid, in and for the said Barony, on Fryday, the seventeenth day of October, in the fourteenth year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord George the second over Great Britain and so forth King, and in the year of our Lord 1740, before the suitors of the said Court, by William Armitage, gentleman, Steward thereof.

COURT HELD AT BURGH, 10TH OCT., 1755.

Thomas Story, of Dalston, in the County of Cumberland, gentleman, was at this court in like manner admitted tenant of all that piece or parcel of Moss Ground, containing by estimation two acres adjoining the lands of John Story, clerk, on the east, west, and south, and William Wilson and Widow Hodgson also on the south side lying at a place called Flatt Moss within the said manor of Burgh in he Barony aforesaid, with all appurtenances thereto, belonging of the antient yearly customary rent of sixpence, being in the Lord's Hands to be demised on the alienation of Joseph Matthews, of Wigton, in the County of Cumberland, gentleman, by deed dated 22nd September, 1755. Consideration £40. Having paid to the said Lord the sum of sixteen shillings as a fine for his admission (saving the right to a general fine as in p. 167).
