STORYS OF THE UNITED STATES.
In the American Encyclopædia we find this singular appellation,
Story-un-kare pronounced Stor-yoon-ka-ruh. This is the name of a Lappish
Deity.

The pedigree of the family of the Hon. Joseph Story, the eminent United States
Judge and Daine professor of law in Harvard University, has been supplied by Mr.
Henry Grafton Story, son of Major-General Joseph Grafton Story. It has been deemed
most advisable to give the pedigree in the form as drawn up by the compiler, the
said Mr. H. G. Story, of 1270, Pacific Street, Brooklyn. U.S.A.
STORY FAMILY, U.S.A.
A member of the family in Massachusetts has in his possession what is said to be
the original coat-of-arms, brought to America by our ancestor Elisha Story (Story
or Storie), a family formerly settled in the county of Cumberland in the north of
England and south of Scotland. The Norroy King of Arms when shown these arms at the
Herald Office, London, said the Storie family to whom belong this coat-of-arms was
one of the oldest families in England next to the Peerage.
ELISHA STORY.
Elisha Story of England, arrived in Boston, Mass., New England, with his only
sister Sarah Story, (Elisha her only brother) in 1700. They were members of the Old
South Church, (Boston) in 1704. The above Sarah Story married Aug. 20, 1710,
Thomas Dawes, and had issue.
